Hmmm.. maybe it will be a calss trait or something you unlock.. like finding out you are a Saiyan descendant. Then you cna have the ability ot become one.
Its possible this might have something to do with collecting the dragonballs, maybe if you collect all of them it will let you have saiyan heritage or something
I think it's a bit more likely that the humans just have some Saiyan blood in them. Humans are often depicted as being one of the weakest races in the manga/anime (with the exception of Uub). Making them a Human/Saiyan hybrid could sort of even the playing field without destroying the lore too much.
Only problem with Human/Saiyans is that it says in the Dragonball Encylopedia that Human/Saiyans like Pan, who was 1/4 Saiyan, couldn't go SSJ because they weren't Saiyan enough. They did ignore this in DBGT when Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. went SSJ being only 1/16th Saiyan... so maybe they'll ignore that rule again with DBO. It could go any number of ways really though.
Ya, I don't think they said anything official yet; but it seems like they're not taking anything from DBGT into consideration for the development of this game (story-wise at least).
I just hope that they didn't release the SSJ screenshot to play with us and it ends up not being an element in the game, as theres no obvious lore reasons to why Humans would be able to go SSJ. I'll be even more disappointed if it turns out to be just some sort of cosmetic item.
