What would suggest I do at this point? I'm still wearing lvl 6 gear and I'm still in the starting area. Any suggestions to expedite the process of getting past this point would be very helpful.

Aand for some better gear, you could do the 7 quests in wich you collect the 7 tier 1 dragonballs, wich gives you lvl 20 rare armor set - dragonball finding chip - and 10k zenni item.

I think that covers the most:p after that you can just scan with you're scouter for quests, and quest you're way up to 55! if ya have anymore questions go ahead :p

when you scan the quest with your scouter... you can see red dots and blue dots... whats red, and whats blue?

Not sure but i think blue are more "optional" quests and red are more the "main" quests for gear etc

from my personal experience, I'd say the red dots are quests you have to take, and the blue dots are quests you're on, although I never had a point where I DIDN'T have a quest so I can't totally confirm that...

What's a good place to take quests from and level in? I got to 33, but I'm not sure where to head. I've done the adult quest, and I want to continue leveling.

Thanks Salza, I'm now at 35, adult, crane hermit, and I got the first 7 dragon balls and got my gear. I am currently in the zone with the first TMQ, probably going to leave to the next area soon since all the quests are super low for me, but I had a quick question. I can't enter the TMQ without a crystal, I get the crystal from a quest, but I have no idea what to do for this quest. I don't think I have to kill anything, but it says 0/30 and the quest gave me a big mechanical backpack. Lol, any help would be appreciated, and thanks again.

You think wrong :) Actually, you have to kill 30 mobs. Any mob, except for a minimal lvl required (I think it's something like that if the mob is like 5 lvls lower than you, it will not count)
