Arale wasn't a joke character.

I ran through my friends pretty quickly whenever she came into the fray--but it was only ever done in order to add insult to injury. When Arale is steamrolling through your Super Saiyan offensive line it's time to re-evaluate your gameplay. But I only ever used her as a throw-away joke character as most hits soared over her tiny frame giving her a tremendous advantage over the slower/larger characters. She was a far greater nuisance than I give her credit for but it's my personal opinion that using her competitive play or for anything beyond a cheap laugh is a prick move. She boasts one of the best offensive set-ups in-game and can, when configured correctly, stand up to even top-tier characters. She has insanely high priority--the joke being that you never would have expected such a powerful combination from her tiny frame.

She was probably the best robot-type character in the entire game.

Arguably, she's probably the best
character in the entire game.

She's like the Dan Hibiki of the game. She looks totally useless... until you get your rear end handed to you by her.

Dan has come a long way since his Alpha series incarnations, true, as people are capable of dominating when he's in play. However, comparing him to Arale is like apples to oranges: Dan's normal moves are absolutely horrendous and, unquestionably, the worst any character has to offer. Nearly all of them being incredibly slow with very few being able to combo into special moves at anywhere but the maximum super-close range. Weak mid-screen juggles and combos, his best approach is his Dankukyaku, which, while decent, leaves him open to a reversal, his projectiles are laughably pathetic and he has very few link combos. That said, Arale is a akin to a
titan when standing next to Dan Hibiki.

Ah, M.U.G.E.N... The only game in which Cell and Dio Brando can fight each other. If only games like that could be made without people filing lawsuits against one another...

Oh, you silly licensing companies. I'll never play a translated Super Robot Wars title that isn't original-cast only. Nothing against the incredibly awesome SRX Team but...damn it, Banpresto, get it together.
That happens a lot.

that having moves and outfits different from the rest of the cast would help a lot, though. Only time will tell what will happen, though. Ultimate Budokai had something like that, and it looked pretty neat.

Sweet. I'd love to play a deranged Yamcha. Where he's dyed his hair blonde in defiance and grew a scruffy beard because in my personal canon he's gone insane at the thought of being third class to the high-tier characters, so he makes it his personal crusade to slap some Wolf Fang Fist down on his naysayers. However, Goku is dead, Vegeta has no qualms about taking lives as demonstrated by his previous actions, Gohan has his mind wrapped up in typical teenage vigilante/leading double life and thus having to lie to a loved one...which leads him to attack the conflict of the world one his lonesome. I imagine he smells strongly of liquor as he stumbles into Dabura and is forced to literally "face his demon". ...Imagination. My anti-drug.
