GSC world game company that produced the world wide hit S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl was closed down, and therefore production on stalker 2 ceased.
my fav FPS of all time and also, the #1 most atmospheric game to date no matter how u slice it.
sad news indeed :(
Well, probably overrated, but the reasons, why these games are popular, are these 2.:
1. Easy to play: Well, moving around and shooting around isn't that hard (not for me on a Pad)
2. Competition: Because it's easy to play, there is a LARGE competition, causal-level and pro-level.
But there are probably too much Military Shooters there...

There can be plenty of other games like that too.And there's only large competition because its taken so seriously for some reason.

Pretty much any game that's played competitively is taken absurdly seriously, like sports. Heck, even Pokemon's hardcore fanbase takes it a might too seriously at times. I know I certainly do, and I'm mostly in it to have fun.
In my opinion i think shooters are good...little over rated but good,i dont really like them but i enjoy them...Im more of a sports fan,love playin Fight Night Champion and games like that...:D
I'm in the same boat as Kiyza. I personally think first person shooters are way overrated! What appeals to me are games which are story based. If it doesn't have a good story line, then I classify it as a poor game! However, as mentioned before, games like Third person shooters have changed this entire genre for the better I think! Just look at the games like Uncharted, and the Assassin's Creed series, all good third person shooter games with a very elegant and plausible story line! Games like Modern Warfare, are just point and shoot games to me and I don't understand why these types of games are so popular in the first place!
