I didn't like Piccolo honestly... was kind of an excuse to add another character to the roster. I mean the guys basically a psychopath reincarnated, I don't care if he raised my son, the guy needs to go down.
Same goes for Vegeta in a sense. Him and Nappa killed so many people and all of that is put in the past and he joins the team.
