for tw the maintenance is every week at the same time on the same day haha so now you know and knowing is half the battle :D

For Models, Maps ect. its not needed to take down the Server.
They can test sucht things in a Virtual World Tool.
If server is taking down, this means there are actualy changes on the Server, or the Game Files.
And testing this things need time.

You have a good point. I have never been on server 2, so I wouldn't know about any of that.

That being as it is. A LOT-O-LOT of work goes into games. Computer, PS3, X-Box, you name it. And without proper care the server integrity will slowly degenerate. That is a no good situation, no good at all. So simple routine tasks must be done to make sure the game can go up, and run 24 hours a day 6 and a half days a week. for your non stop gaming pleasure.
You ask me I think that a good deal, and I have no issue with it. Although I wish my day off was not always Wednesday (cant win them all).
Point being take these 4 hours go on a walk. Enjoy nature, Spend time with your kids, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, dog, really whatever. Take a nap. Sleep dep sets in about 48 hours after last tie you slept. Remember Goku is not IRL, and no you cant really fly.

In my opinion they should make a free roam part of the game. So you can do only quest during maintainence
