There were a little over 30 people who PM'd me about becoming a mod, and so I'm not going to go into detail for why I didn't pick each one, but I would like to say that there were a few I really liked, but didn't feel they were currently active enough. A couple others have a somewhat bad history here, and while that doesn't necessarily exclude someone from ever becoming a mod, in these cases I think that history was a little too recent. If things continue to go well, I could consider some people a lot more seriously next time around.
To anyone wanting to become a mod, one of the best things you can do to stand out is to report rule breaking posts. Some of the people chosen today were easily the most active and helpful reporting users.
However, the objectivity of a user's reports is something I do take notice of. I'm not going to look kindly upon someone who only reports the posts of an opposing guild, while at the same time participates along with the rule breaking posts of their guildmates.
