Do you need more than 1 set of gear in order to play efficiently? Or do you only need one set?

Yes it depends what for Pve or pvp but multiple sets is required to play your best

What class are you ? I would reccomend a lot of accessories and I can help with armour once I know your class

every class need multiple sets to make a good job at his role.
You are fighter, then the most important sets you need are CON and DEX. a pair of E def ones and M def ones.
you got 4 sets right there.
