In no way did I tell people to leave this forum to join my website, and it's up to them in the first place.

The forums were dying way before, I even launched my website.
It died because the game it was for fan site for, died.

The first one was actually dbmmo.com, then dbocom.com came shortly. after.

I have nothing against you but just as constructive feedback this site is WAY more user friendly than DBORs Site. But anyway we will see.If DBOR and DBORZ Come out It will be the same as the old times where people are on different servers.If one of them is unfair for any reason everyone will migrate to the other server, but I hope that doesn't happen.Two communities available at any time are much better than one...think about it in a positive way guys, let's say one has maintenance we could all just go and play the other until the main one for you(will depend) is back on and vica versa! So it all works out for the better!

That is also, quite the optimistic outlook you there Gewku, However, considering how much the people of ragezone seem to hate us for no apparent good reason. I doubt we would ever be two neighboring communities. Just one or the other.

i would like to agree with u. but then i remebered my account its perma-banned, my hole country IP is banned. if i wanted to check out something in guild forum i had to use a proxy-browser. if i said anything i was banned cuz i was from the rival guild of the forum moderators.
i think this forum has a better display, i like the background image, maybe the letter type too. but in terms of managment i prefer dbor.

i would love DBOR showed the ppl more information about the current state of the project. But we have to trust they are working on it, becouse if not that means DBO its dead. and i dont like thinking that.

i dont think ragezone will get anywhere. but i know nothing about programming so thats just my impression.

Seem pretty clear your intention from the start was to not let anyone else dev dbo except your team alone. In fact the sources that Ragezone is using is the sane source you guys "Started out from "scratch" using. Thus they never "Leak your source file".

It been spoken people don't care who makes the game again. They just want the game to come back.

Please, stop acting like you are speaking for the whole community primo. Yes, people want the game to come back again, please stop stating the obvious. People also want a community to play with. I don't want to play on an empty server because the community is scattered around different servers. The game will mean absolutely nothing to me and to everyone else if there is no community to play with. Stop being selfish only caring about playing the game again. Most of us here have played the game, but the people we played with is what made DBO what it was.

DBOR not making it open source? Stop being ridiculous, if people wanted to work on the project that much they were welcome to put their hand up and join the DBO R team and work on the project themselves. DBOR never started as a closed project, its people like you who made it that way because you had no skills to offer. At the start anyone was welcome to hop on board as long as they had skills and weren't dead weight.

I rarely post anything, but I thought I'll jump in on this one.

I don't think we want to, or can stop anyone else from developing their own DBO.

Regarding the old client source, we kept it to ourselves because the person who gave it to us (to Hexus) had asked us to keep it that way, and so we did. I mean, if this person wanted to make it public in the first place, he would have posted it publicly himself.

Regarding our closed development, it was something that everyone had agreed on within the DBOR project. When I first joined the project, I was told it is going to be that way, and we will not let any information out.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if DBOR is all open source. This has been discussed many times internally too. And I believe it will be open source at some point.

I'm just trying to give my 2 cents here, and I sincerely just want to keep the peace between DBOR and DBORZ.

I was one of the people who said we should keep it closed and I'm still for keeping it closed. Just because someone doesn't want to make a project open source is no reason for you to hate on it. I understand you're hugely for open source projects and a lot of people are but you should try to understand that we're trying to keep it professional and keep it closed. There are many advantages to open source but there's tons of disadvantages too and I'm not going to list them. Google does a fine job of that.

I have nothing against DBOCOM and I actually argued with Dumke about making forums for the DBOR site. He convinced that it was necessary however and I agreed. Citrinate and the DBOR team agreed that the sites could be affiliates of each other. I'm a moderator on both sites and I don't dislike either sites.

I have nothing against Ragezone. I believe they will make a great open source server but I'm still failing to understand why they're hating on us so much. Is it seriously just because we're not open source or is it because we didn't give you the source code?


At the beginning of the project we did allow almost anyone to join. As long as you were contributing to the project and not just joining to be known as "part of the DBOR team" we let you join. Once the group started filling up we did limit the spots but we still let people join who had skills to contribute. It wasn't until data that was meant to stay within the DBOR team was leaked that we had to really close our doors and start relieving some members. Like Pigeon said, the source was requested to be private. You don't have to agree with what we did but you should try to understand it.



We understand you just want to play and open source projects usually develop much faster. However, we do have skilled programmers and Pigeon is the leader and main programmer. We're trying to bring the game back and it might be slower because we're not open source but that shouldn't be a reason for all the unprovoked hate. None of us have been criticizing Ragezone for making an open source server so you criticizing us for making a closed source one is completely unnecessary.

Some other reasons you listed on that thread for hating us:

pride: Anyone who re-creates a server should have a little pride in their work. Part of the reason Citrinate left this site up is because he was proud of it. However, pride isn't a reason for keeping it closed source.

fame: You really think we're going to get famous for making an emulator of a game that shut down because it went bankrupt?

money: We haven't asked for any donations yet. In fact, when people try to give us money we refuse them until the server is closer to its release. You don't even want to see our financial report.

You don't have to agree with us making it closed source but you should try to understand it like we understand Ragezone making it open source. Dumke is right, there is no clear apparent reason for the hate other than the fact that our project isn't open source. People from Ragezone are actually posting on our Facebook wall that thread with provocative language. We professionally ask them to stop and they don't so we just end up banning them. We're trying to be as professional about this as possible and we ask that you do the same.

I agree with all of the decisions made by the DBO R team and do support the project completely. My main concerns with other projects (like Ragezone) is the people handling it. People need to look at the long term picture here - would they really want a server that has messed up drop rates, values, stats etc? Not only that, but the people of Rage zone can't be trusted. What if they decide to pull the plug on their server? Then anything everyone has worked on (mainly character progress) has amounted to nothing and they are back at square 1.

The main reason why I support Dumke is because he has been someone who has actually been with the community for years, even longer then myself. Which to me is a necessary value to mention as it means in the future he won't turn his back on the community and will continue to run it.

I don't care how long DBO R will take to come out. I'd rather play a game that is in the hands of the right people, rather then a game that comes out sooner and is in the wrong hands.
