Yeah but I don't think there is all that much to expand on . They've gotten the entire planet earth from what I've seen, though I don't think there is a Lookout yet. There really isn't any reason to go into space because the Namekians are already here. If they do expand it will have to be Otherworld.

The whole Earth isn't there; more than half of it's to be added later. That's shown on the in-game map if memory serves.

I wonder if we'll ever be able to ascend beyond Super Saiyan... Super Saiyan 2 and 3 skills would be awesome :D

I keep seeing stuff like this, but it's not what the thread was intended for. I'm talking about things that really have no impact on gameplay as a whole, or close to it. Mostly aesthetic stuff. Like, if there were items that made your character look like a different form of Super Saiyan, that would count.

And with that out of the way, I'm going to mention one of those things I've been wanting for a while: voice acting. When this is released in Japan, they need to voice over the TMQs. I know oh so many people can't stand the Japanese voices for whatever reason, but me, I want them in this game because the fangirl within me says it would be awesome. Heck, have them voice the player characters too. If you don't like it, turn it off. And when it comes stateside, why not have FUNimation do some voicing for it? You know, given that the Japanese audio track would be optional, so those of us who are more comfortable with Japanese version feel just fine and dandy with the audio on.

kiyza, how old are you?

Voice acting would totally just elevate this game from a common MMO to something badass.

Voice acting sounds like an awesome idea!
But is something that is not really needed so I don't think they will ever do it... or maybe...?

15 or so.

It's not necessary, but pretty much every recent video game based on popular anime has voice overs. (with notable exception to JUMP Super/Ultimate stars, due to the fact it would create a licensing hell if they were to get rights from anyone that isn't Shuesia) It could be done for Dragon Ball Online, but it would require them to get the rights to the anime to a degree, which they don't have at the moment from what I understand. It's not an inconceivable thing for it to simply have the voice overs, and FUNimation would likely be more than willing to oblige when it's released in America, but it could get a little messy with Toei Animation involved, considering that's one more company they have to deal with. Essentially, it would take a while to get sorted out, but it's not impossible. At the very least, it would likely delay Japanese localization by a good lot if they decided to do that before releasing it over there.

Bioware's TOR's (The Old Republic) mega selling point is that it is the first MMO to be 100% voiced over, from quest givers to vendors and no reused voices like seen in WoW where there are about 5 dwarf voices saying the same 3 lines and they are used for every dwarf NPC in the game. This has caused that game to bleed money pretty heavily, there are some stupid numbers out that saying it has cost close to 12 million to make which is a load of crap, however I do think this could possibly be the most expensive video game ever made even without silly numbers like this.

The point is, for them to VO this game would mean they'd have to be willing to go deep into their pockets, which I don't think they'd do. They are already struggling to make money on DBO hence the silly prices for a chance to get an item on their store. Other games have stores to look at Lord of the Rings Online, they have a store much like DBOs you can buy cosmetic items from that to even store exclusives but at least you know what you are buying instead of taking a chance and probably getting a load of cheap crap before getting something interesting and even then probably not the item you wanted.

The game has issues, no one will doubt that it is cookie cutter and in the wrong market, DBOs only hope for big money is to cash in on the brand like every other DB game does, remember the last time you played a DB game that didn't just add more characters or stages from the last game? However even the brand might not be enough to sell the game, look at KAI, it has had issues that have hurt it recently but that isn't the reason they decided to stop making it, it simply wasn't selling, after all these years the DB brand is loosing its hype and they need to do something new. When I say new I mean new, not just recolour or "remaster" the same stuff we've seen thousands of times before.

The fault isn't all on Toei or Funi, we are to blame in part to for buying this crap for all these years and allowing them to continue to make money off something that hasn't had anything new since it finished. We got a special a few years back nothing amazing but because it was unexpected and so rare to get, we ate it up and loved it like they'd all just give us back the money we've spent on DB all these years.

LONG OFF TOPIC RANT OVER, if they want to make money off DBO, VO is a good option but like with everything they could do that could stop this game from going under, they need to be willing to put the money in there in the first place, and if DB history has shown us anything, they love making money without doing anything new or too expensive.

I'm not talking about it being voiced over quite that heavily, but rather having things like TMQs voiced over with the casts the we're familiar with. Besides, Dragon Ball games are pretty heavily voiced over all the time anyway, and I don't think it cuts that deeply into their pockets. Anime voice actors, on both the US and Japanese side of things, aren't exactly loaded you know. If memory serves, most of FUNi's voice actors have other jobs to do outside of voicing characters.

remember the last time you played a DB game that didn't just add more characters or stages from the last game?

Yes I do. It was called Attack of the Saiyans, a JRPG for the Nintendo DS, and it was quite arguably the best Dragon Ball game I ever played.

However even the brand might not be enough to sell the game, look at KAI, it has had issues that have hurt it recently but that isn't the reason they decided to stop making it, it simply wasn't selling, after all these years the DB brand is loosing its hype and they need to do something new. While that is indeed true, I think Dragon Ball Online fills the void a little bit. It is new content. It's a new chapter the series that we know and love, and it's for that reason that I have an interest in it. It's not the same thing we've seen a thousand times before, it's not some cliche old fanfic, it's not a video game based around what-ifs involving Broli. It's a new story that's never been told before.

There's no denying that Dragon Ball is an old series, and there's also no denying it sure doesn't make money like it used to. Heck, nothing save One Piece and Naruto seems to make money like it used to. But that's just to be expected, considering how old the franchise is at this point. But it's certainly not going to prevent the milking of this cash cow. Like I said, other than One Piece (mostly in Japan) and Naruto, what else is there, other than perhaps a few other long-running Shonen series, to make truckloads of money off of?

It's kind of evolving into a sort of classic among anime. Dragon Ball fans don't get anywhere near the same hatedom they had a decade, or even five years ago. It's a respectable franchise, and I honestly think that as long as live, someone's always going to try to do something with it. That's just the kind of series it is.

The fault isn't all on Toei or Funi, we are to blame in part to for buying this crap for all these years and allowing them to continue to make money off something that hasn't had anything new since it finished. Quite frankly, as long as FUNimation keeps giving me the Dragon Boxes, they can take everything I keep in my checking account. But then again, that's pretty much the only thing I pick up anyway, and it's certainly not selling like the Orange Bricks do.

LONG OFF TOPIC RANT OVER, if they want to make money off DBO, VO is a good option but like with everything they could do that could stop this game from going under, they need to be willing to put the money in there in the first place, and if DB history has shown us anything, they love making money without doing anything new or too expensive.

Considering it's done with so many other Dragon Ball games, even when it's not really needed, (like in Attack of the Saiyans, albeit FUNimation didn't do any voices for it) it's certainly something I could see happening. I just don't expect them to go over the top with it, considering anything anime-related in general tends to be pretty cheap, not just Dragon Ball. (With notable exception to Studio Ghibli; bless their souls) What I'd like to see is having the voices of the characters I know in the game, yelling and whatnot. I'm not expecting every little detail to have full voice-overs, because that would quite frankly be too much work.

Maybe I'm just an ass, but I kind of assumed that this game would be voiced over :D

I agree it'd be nice to add that.

Tbh, I mainly skimmed over what's been said lately, and so I don't know if anyone said anything about this, but I'd like to be able to craft my own dojo. Not that much to it. Take the normal cream-colored dojo, pick the color you want it to be, choose whatever designs they have available (Lightning bolts, Suns, Moons, Stars, Hearts, whatever), color that, choose the undergarment color (just in case they choose to incorporate something like ripped clothing after fights), and voila.

Another thing, kinda lame, but I wouldn't mind some more ways to customize during the character creation. More hairstyles, eye colors, facial expressions..

Also, they could add some kind of NPC that lets you change your appearance once you have made it. I don't think is difficult to imagine, some kind of Stacy Malibu's Plastic Surgery Center or something.

P.D.: The name is a joke, but the idea itself isn't.

how cool would it be if we had Multi form.
