Wouldn't Goku still be alive as well during the main timeline of DBO? Since the Old Kai gave him about a thousand years worth of life.

Old Kai didn't give Goku his life during GT, he gave it during the Buu arc.

I'm going to say no to that, because though it may have been a thousand years for the Old Kai to live, there's nothing saying that when it was transferred to Goku it would have been the same.

Edit: Speaking of which, wouldn't Goku still be alive as well during the main timeline of DBO? Since the Old Kai gave him about a thousand years worth of life.

That is indeed true and yes.. he actually should be alive still in DBO.
the lifespan transfered to goku would make him still alive

Unless there's something I'm missing, "I'll give you the life that's left inside of me" is all that Old Kai said that you could possibly twist into that. They do mention the act a few more times in which they only say stuff like "give you my life" and they never mention "lifespan".

The only logical conclusion anyone could make is that he's simply giving the Goku the ability to live (as what anyone would assume when someone says they'll give you their so that you may live). Were it any other way I'd imagine they would have been a bit more clear about it.

Not that there should really be any confusion now. In the opening sequence for the game it does say that Goku and the others are gone.

Actually, the Old Kai mentioned that his life would have only lasted him another thousand years. There was nothing about that somehow transferring to Goku, though.

"Goku and the others are gone?" Define "others," since I'd be willing to bet money more than just Kame-Sennin ("Master Roshi") is alive.

It's implied that it would have transferred to Goku when the Old Kai gives Goku his life. The Old Kai had a ~1000 years worth of life left in him, and he gave all of his life to Goku (as he immediately dies right after giving his life to Goku). Therefore Goku had all of the life that was left in the Old Kai, which was ~1000 years worth.
