The big three,Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft all produce awesome games, but only one will prevail. 2012 is going to be a big year for them, and your can tell by all the projects they have. Time to lay down a few things about each company. (Im going to be as unbiased as possible here)
Nintendo: The pioneer of gaming, the company that makes legendary games *cough*Ocarina of Time*cough*. In 2011, they released a ton of cool new games, and a new system, the 3DS, by far one of the best Nintendo systems I've ever touched. Nintendo, like Sony and Microsoft, have plenty of 3rd party support from famous companies like Sega, Konami, Capcom, Namco andai, etc. They have always seemed to focus more on game play, but now, they seem to be focusing more on graphics and features. The WiiU, which will come this 2012, has a rumoured 2X more power than XBox360 and PS3, and the same graphics, also brings in a new way to play. Theres a lot thats hard to explain, so just watch this:
Notice any major difference? I don't, just the disco ball on the Move. Isnt very surprising they like to copy Nintendo, since Nintendo did make the first PlayStation. Anyway, PS4 is coming out next year, pretty cool, but for now I cant see any major differences from the PS3. I know that it will have about the same graphics and power, and maybe it might try better game play. We didnt even get info other than its release date.....so we have to wait and see.
Microsoft: The brains of the 3. Very easy to say with a Tri Core CPU as a power source for the XBox. Basically, the same kind of things I said for Sony, but......look at the Kinect. A pretty cool addition to the console. But..... a little embarrassing to play with......You have to pretend your holding a gun while playing CoD. Its a lot more original than Sony, and, its currently the best console out there, but we'll see this year when the WiiU comes out. XBox720 might beat it, but 6X graphics and power seem like a rumour to me. Even so, thats only 20% more powerful that WiiU, maybe the same for PS4. Not much to say as its a lot like Sony, and I didn't get an opportunity to try it much. Still, very fun to play.
My vote goes for Nintendo. They never cease to impress me. Microsoft products are highly defective and Playstation products are just plain uninteresting to me.
6X as more powerful,so what? With the power and graphics WiiU, XBox360, and PS3 already have, yo just need better game play.I love how everything from Microsoft and Sony is over rated, 6X isnt required, even Microsoft knows that. Probably a rumour.
Hardware specs don't bother me in the slightest -- it's about games. Since Nintendo's the only one with a new console on the horizon, if the Wii U comes out this year, Nintendo's almost certainly going to be on top. Considering the system will be getting more 3rd-party support, I suspect that it'll probably be my new go-to console for things that are released across all systems. Sony and Microsoft are probably going to lag behind them, unless the system falls flat on its face. It's not as revolutionary as the Wii was, so I doubt it will appear to as many casual fans, but perhaps if the launch titles are particularly good it will attract a good swarm of gamers.
I've had my novelties with motion-based gaming. Now I want to sit on my butt again with a more regular controller. Go Nintendo.
My vote is out for Nintendo. They just always had this magic to them that Microsoft didn't, and the originality Sony didn't have. I bought a 50-bucks Xbox360 just for some third-party software, but with Nintendo seemingly about to match up with it's rivals on the hardware market, it looks like Nintendo will finally be getting their 3rd party support too. I can't wait to see what the Wii U has in store for us this year.

A lot of 3rd party games didn't make it onto the Wii, presumably because of the different graphics and controls. That's why a fair few games are on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but not the Wii.
