I need 40k exp to level to 60, I have a quest for 90k, I could easily turn it in to level up, but the leftover experience is what bothers me.. Will it just get thrown out or will it just save up til' the level cap goes from 60 to 65?

btw, if u dont wanna lose that 50k exp, than just do tmq4 easy twice...it will take 20mins in total or less.

If anything it should let you get up to 1 exp away from your next level. But i guess NTL didn't set values past 60.
