So, i was thinking before when a user got banned they were unable to access the forums at all. Right now when a user gets banned he is able to view all the forums but not post. This really doesn't bother them because they can read everything just not express their opinion.

My suggestion would be if you could make it so banned users are unable to view the public forums, but can only view and post in their own guild forums.

Maybe by doing this the user will watch what they say or do next time so they can't get banned? I don't think it would hurt to try out, but eh give your own opinions to this idea.

Why does it matter if they can view the public forums or not? Your acting like banned people are criminals who deserve to be isolated from the whole forum because they are broke rules on this site lol.

Well we treat them as criminal's by removing them from the public. Personally I do agree but for it to work we would have to make it so Guest's cant view the majority of the forum. Maybe make a post count of 5 required to view everything.

Which would mean more people will start to make alternate accounts -_-

And why wouldn't guests be allowed to view the forums? That would be stupid. Not once have I ever been on a site where they do not allow people not to view the forums. It defeats the purpose of calling it public forums if guests can't view it.

And no they shouldn't be treated as criminals because its the internet. I will never understand why people treat it so seriously.

The point of this thread is to suggest forum user to think twice before breaking the rules again. By giving a harsher punishment, the OP of this thread lead to believe that people will not break the rules again cause of the outcome.

doing this the user will watch what they say or do next time so they can't get banned? I don't think it would hurt to try out, but eh give your own opinions to this idea.

So instead of asking useless question that don't contribute to the thread in a positive way. You should provide a suggestion on how to improve the idea or how you decline it on what grounds.

So i'm going to assume from your post this is your grounds.
"I don't like this idea because user who are banned is already being punished enough. No need to make it worse for them"
-------------
Back on topic as for me.
I think this is a sloppy idea because when you break a rule you are inform by an mod/admin and until you click the pop up it won't go away. So you get 3 chances to be reminded before your banned.
I Agree with tempest in a sense that this isn't worth the time, cause it take a few min to create a new account. While saying that you guys can improve on this idea and add a ip banned system if someone keep breaking the rules and recreating new account. Since i'm pretty sure the forum record your ip when you login or register.

Or even better use a system of Strike where, if a user has 1,2,3 strike their ability to Join a guild section is disable, Ability to Use Forum tools like Skill Calculator etc.

This is my opinion.

I think we should put them in the "stocks thread" where we can laugh at them and throw tomatoes and other metaphorical fruits and vegetables. They would be allowed to post in the thread but with only a single letter which would be "a".

I like Simmys idea. To add onto it, Instead of being unable to view anything straight away,
first time banned they have a limited amount of posts they can use.
second time banned they can view but not post
third time banned Jax rolls up Texas Chainsaw Massacre style or can't view anything.
Now I'm not into Web design, so I don't really know about the capabilities of the programming to implement this system.

Primo taking out the ability to use the forum tools or be apart of a guild is kinda stupid. This forum is here to help everyone. Even if the "Criminal" has done something stupid or said something stupid or just Australian. They should still be able to use these features. I think it will drive people away if you take these features away from banned users.

Saying something stupid is what i do all the time and i don't get banned for it. Also warning a.k.a strike have expire dates on them so they will be able to have the same ability to use the forum tools again. I'm sure few 1-3 days without skill tool they won't be drive away cause they made friends here and such. Well also this is the only decent english dbocom forum aswell.
So i don't understand your point. Because what you suggested here.
first time banned they have a limited amount of posts they can use.
second time banned they can view but not post

Is like my Idea instead of forum tools ability it's post ability.

Most likely the person being banned is a troll.. To stop a troll, you take away their way of communication. Problem solved.
