Did speeding up while flying become extremely difficult?

Hello, I'm a returning DBO player.

When I left it was easy to speed up while flying, but now while i rapid tap the W key nothing happens or it unpredictably happens rarely.

Did they change flight mechanics or something?

They change nothing .

Just right click in one spot quickly without moving forward while in mid air and you will go fast

Either tap W twice or click on a spot 2 times (right mouse)...
