The idea is for a mystery/suspense MMO. It has no name, but the idea is that you make a character (either male or female cause Gender Equality and all that) and you start as a rookie detective under the guidance of a veteran detective. The game would be set in the 1940s so think L.A. Noir. Throughout the game the player character will solve various mysteries and uncover hidden secrets, while furthering their career as a detective.
Game play will vary depending on the type of job the player has, from investigating crime scenes to questioning witnesses, to find the truth. There would be no leveling system, but you would be able to upgrade your character in different ways, new outfits, weapons and tools.
Combat will be pretty much how it is in L.A. Noir, or any other third person shooter with some mechanics from Gears of War or Mass Effect, ducking behind cover and such. The game could also be a bit more realistic, having the character feel hungry or thirsty and have the option to visit diners and coffee shops which could also be places that can serve as hubs for player meetings, as well as a place to advertise your agency (Guild)
Experience which will exist but have nothing to do towards level but skill, will work with different stats such as skill in fire arms, physical fitness and the ability to judge if a person is lying or telling the truth. You would gain experience in many different ways, solving a mystery, combat, or doing something that would equal life experience, such as solving a puzzle or discovering a hidden secret.
The game would be filled with hidden secrets, some hidden very well, so the player would have to use all his cunning to figure it out. Anyway this is just an idea I had and wanted to get off my chest.
