the complied rumors seem to bring about hints that lead towards it being one of the Shadowlaw dolls.
* it's confirmed the 5th playable character is not R.Mika, Haggar and other popular characters that fans asked Ono frequently about
* the playable character has not been playable in any Street Fighter before.
* Rumors of the character being from the UDON Street Fighter expanded universe
* rumor of the character's name related to the name of a month.
* speculation due to Capcom's financial situation, it can't be a totally different fighting style,
so it's a character that looks/plays similiar to other character(s) in the roster, with noticable gameplay differences (for example in Alpha 3, Juli and Juni played similiar to Cammy, but still different enough to be their own character and style. So comparing their gameplay flavor is like the differences between Ken, Ryu and Sakura. in Ultra SFIV's case, the 5th playable character could have even more unique gameplay differences, including their Ultras.)
* it's said the character is female
So yea it kind of makes sense it could be one of the Shadowlaw "dolls" that Alpha 3 didn't have.
Which is really cool since this roster needs more antagonist type fighters anyway, and the dolls always had that cool uniform style to them, so a new Shadowlaw doll introduced to the USFIV roster would be both nostalgic and new at the sametime. :)
(there's also rumor of
Noembelu possibly being the new playable character.)

fanbase are leaning towards the unrevealed character to be one of the Shadowlaw "dolls" that Alpha 3 didn't have in the roster.
Which is really cool since this roster needs more antagonist/villain side fighters anyway, and the dolls always had that cool unique dark uniform style to them, so a new Shadowlaw doll introduced to the USFIV roster would be both nostalgic and new at the sametime for SFIV series and SF games in general. :)
Though if it's one of those three, it shouldn't be Decapre, even though I read somewhere that she uses a claw, she looks too similiar to Cammy. Xiayu and Santamu look more original, and more refreshing than just Juli or Juni again. but if it's Decapre, oh well, Her gameplay differences and personality will make up for it.
There's also rumor the playable fighter could be
Noembelu.

I don't really like any of the newer street fighters that incorporate the block bar. Back in the day if you blocked you got penalized by taking a little damage to your health so you couldn't do it infinitely and opened yourself up to being thrown.
Heck I hated tech hit but that wasn't really enough to get me to stop playing the newer games but when they added block bar it was just going too far for me.
I think the last non-crossover street fighter game I enjoyed was alpha2

it's been a long while since I played SSFIV, lol, been playing lots of other things since then, did it has a block meter? not sure, I'm think people still take damage from blocked specials. Yea maybe it did have a block meter.
But I think the block meter was only there so players can't always block, if there meter empties, their block breaks and they get dizzied/stunned. but I think you still took special attack damage while blocking (unless you Focus attack and recover, but focus is a risk.)
There are things like focus attacks and stuff, but they were balanced, and it wasn't easy fully recovering damage. Overall it took almost as much skill as parrying (and more balanced than parrying too since SF3 parrying was too one sided and gave turtlers the full advantage for successful parries, which turned matches in DOA games where well timed defensive play was unstoppable, despite throws countering it. )
Unlike SF3, SF4 series focused more on rewarding offensive play.
Unblockable setups are being removed in Ultra, but that will balance things so both offense and defense are rewarding strategies, instead of just catering to one side, and evening the playing field so skill factors in more and matches are less predictable.
Also, isn't tech hit a recovery from a throw? I think that is kinda balanced since it didn't make throws unstoppable, there was still a slight chance for the player to recover from some throws, so attacks aren't too one sided. Especially considering how abusable and cheap throws can be, especially against those without effective wake up counter attacks.
It keeps both fighters on their toes, making matches more interesting. :)
Some theorize the 5th playable character is one of these UDON characters
Xiayu (name means October):

Santamu (looks similar to the rumored silhouette):

Decapre (some say it means December?)

I wouldn't mind, I liked the "dolls" from Alpha 3, plus they will have enough differences to be their own character and play style version, just like Ken and Ryu and Sakura can't be called 100% clones.

6 of them have shown promising fighting styles:
- Satsuki (May) uses a sword
- Santamu (August) uses a spear
- Xiayu (September) uses nunchakus
- Jianyu (October) uses a quarterstaff
- Noembelu (November) uses 2 hatchets
- Decapre (December) uses a claw...
Juli and Juni fight exactly like Cammy (a shame really) and are excluded due to being already playable in the Alpha series,
and Enero, Février, März and Aprile are specialized in communications, firearms, recon & intel and medic, respectively, more than martial arts.

I think those four could have fighting training too, just cause they specialize in noncombat stuff, doesn't mean they don't have lethal fighting skills too.
