Valve has released their new operating system for download.

CPU requirements are fairly standard. 64-bit. GPU requirements kind of suck, only supporting Nvidia cards for the moment.

The requirements for harddrive made me shit a brick. You need a 500GB blank drive, not partitioned, a total blank drive, in order to install.

Still not able to run Windows games on it. Really don't see the point to a Steam OS that isn't able to play the vast majority of the steam library, but maybe someone can make a new version of Wine for it or something since the OS is linux based.

So, Valve made a OS where you can't run windows games, while Valve supported only Windows for first-
Did Google bought Steam too?

They have developers on board to develop games for Steam Machines, Valve's new console they're releasing.

I'd love Steam to get into consoles and also make a GOOD OS, but they're failing miserably at both. If someone REALLY wants a Steam console, then they should just build a PC, put Windows 8.1 on it, set it down next to the TV and set it to run Steam Big Picture.

I doubt Steam will ever be a good OS, well it can be a good OS, but won't have much users.. Even though Linux is free, and probably easier to use then Windows, still 80% of people rather use Windows, not Linux / Mac.
I think it would be a smarter idea to make a Steam computer, with Steam OS on it, and sell, not only the OS, but we'll see.

That's, actually what they're doing. Steam Machines are basically Desktops sold with Steam OS installed on them. They come in many variations and are meant to be consoles rather than PCs.
