The newest announcement seems to focus on the IPO of Cayenne Entertainment Technology. It goes on yaddy yadda about how exciting of an opportunity this is and that the initial public offering will occur on June 10th, and that there's a conference regarding this announcement today in Taipei, etc etc...

It goes on saying how with their partnerships with various game developers, namely the Korean ones, they have been able to make some great records and that they're committed to further expanding the entire gaming industry and improve further on their own success.

Anyways, what concerns us specifically is the last paragraph in which the announcement indicates that, after Cayenne having various success and stable profits from its current lineup of 11 games, the world-renowned MMO Dragon Ball Online, and I quote, WILL be released in June. And then it goes on about some other games it's planning to release later this year. But anyways, the bottomline is that DBO is set to release in June next month. Doesn't say which specific date though. But yay! I can't believe it'd be this soon.

Sorry, there's no such thing as a global release with any game, let alone non-mainstream MMORPGs. Even games like World of Warcraft don't have "global" releases (regulatory agencies in countries such as China have effectively blocked the publishing of the newest expansions of WOW), and games like the newest Mortal Kombat is currently banned in Australia.

There's yet another announcement today about the Dragon Ball Online "Collector's Edition" in Taiwan. It's being released on June 4th. It states that it includes the OB special package like the one given in VIP beta testing. So I'm guessing that OB (open beta) will start on June 4th when these collector's edition goes on sale. It's likely that there will no longer be anymore character deletion when OB goes live.

The only thing I'm not clear on is whether the Korean version is technically still in beta or not. I understand that the microtransactions is already functioning, but does it mean it's out of beta and fully released?

Yes, but I think the game wasn't where they envisioned it would be when it was released. They never announced that the open beta (which never had an end date) ever ended or that the game was released, but version 1.0 of anything always means "released". Version 1.0 came out after the cash shop though.

Open Beta began on January 14th 2010
Cash shop was released on February 4th 2010
Version 1.0 was released on May 18th 2010

Thanks for the clarification Citrinate. It makes me all the more hopeful that after OB starts, pwipe won't happen again.
