I tend to enjoy work that's original than fanfiction.
I can look at fanfiction as a good outlet to help hone your skills as an artist, but I when I was thinking about making a Dragonball-based webcomic myself, I thought that it would be better to put work and effort into something that is my own, rather than something of an existing franchise.

That's just my opinion, though.
