Did you guys try uninstalling and reinstalling the game? I had a similar issue (there were white squares in my mini map, and my characters head was gone in the upper left.. whole bunch of off things) and a reinstall fixed it. I would give this a shot before you go and spend cash on a new PC to fix it.
